MacFarlane`s Celtic Pub in Lake Charles

This is my favorite place to dine in Lake Charles. I love the atmosphere, the food, the drink selection (including specialty drinks for holidays), and the staff. You can dine inside or on the porch (heated when it's cold outside). Simply put, this place is great.

Started out with a delicious half-price Bloody Mary & my fiance ordered a drink that looked & tasted like a Bomb Pop! Fried mushrooms & fried pickles for appetizers...both seasoned and fried perfectly! Then I had the B.A.B.E. burger & he ordered the most savory & flavorful Shepherd's pie I have EVER tasted! The side of sauteed green beans were some of the best I've ever had as well! Absolutely impressive & delicious meal from beginning to end! Service was top notch...everyone working here is so friendly and helpful! Only our 2nd time to eat here but will be back every chance we get...LOVE IT!!!

I'll start with the service. OMG the absolute most amazing service I have ever received. The food is so delicious. I got a MAC burger, the juiciest burger I have ever eaten. The whole place just feels welcoming. The waiters and waitress are awesome and friendly. I was very impressed with this place. Tonight was my first time but definitely won't be the last. Oh before I go you MUST try their fried pickles. Makes my mouth water just thinking about them again.

One of the best places in Lake Charles to grab a drink and a bite to eat with friends!If you like a good beer this is the place for you!MacFarlane's has an amzing selection of imported beers and in some cases the only place in town you can find them!The food had the home made quality that is rare to find! and a bread pudding that is abosutely to die for!

Lovely Creole local served us. We bragged about our grandson. Food was fabulous and a bloody Mary made with their infused vodka was simply delish.

Pub fries were out if this world, and the Blueberry Martini....ooh best one I've had in a long time! Definitely a fine time!

Thus was my first visit to McFarlands in Downtown Lake Charles, LA. the first impression was spectacular. I went with a friend for lunch and brought my 3 year old with me. It was a beautiful day and we were seated in the outside area that was shaded and breezy with Irish music softly playing overhead. The waitstaff is awesome. Dawning Irish/Celtic garb, they waited on us hand and foot. Our drinks were never empty and all of our food came out as ordered and delicious.This place isn't exactly kid friendly with some adult themed decor and very large portions. However, our waitress took extra steps to make him comfortable. Overall.... excellent experience. I definitely recommend this amazing restaurant to any one person or a group of friends. 👍👍👍

Great food, great atmosphere, large selection of beer & liquor. People are so friendly.

Food items are a miz of regional and old style celtic, irish traditional. Large portions! Has outdoor dining deck. Inside is very much a bar and a bit dark for dining, otherwise high marks. Close to downtown and the lakefront.

Delicious food and drinks! Their amazing bloody marys are on special on Saturdays. Love that they have spicy sandwiches here and so many good appetizers.

Best food I’ve ever put in my mouth. Cody, the bartender, was friendly and a great conversationalist. Mary McFarlaine, the owner, gave us a tour and lots of samples. The menu is in a class all by itself. Great experience. Cool atmosphere. Wish I could rate higher than 5!

April 1,2019 I loved it! Every thing about this place. Food was awesome with so many choices, have so many beer and drink choices, my salad was the best. We ordered seafood platters as well as a burger, fried mushrooms, and some other sides too. Wonderful service, our waitress even took a picture of us in front of the sign on the building front. Best experience ever, a day i will surely never forget.

Be ready to eat! You can't help but getting an appetizer, entree, and dessert. Delicious!

Great food and even better atmosphere. The pub fries are amazing as well as the bangers and mash! It is located in the downtown section of Lake Charles and has great parking. The prices are very reasonable as is the quality of the food. A must try if you are in Lake Charles.

Love the atmosphere. Everyone was working hard to keep everyone satisfied during the dinner rush. The assistant manager was our server and extremely polite. 1 simple mistake and it was fixed, no questions asked, within 3 minutes. Food was excellent, service was exemplary.

The atmosphere in this place is great! We've eaten here three times and had wonderful experiences every time. The staff is friendly and professional. I have to eat a specialized diet and they worked with me to ensure I had an enjoyable and tasty meal.

Loved the waitstaffs enthusiasm! Very welcoming and attentive. Outside of the restaurant, is a beautiful patio where you can enjoy your meal outside.. inside of the restaurant, there's eye candy all over the red walls. Very comfortable and homey inside. Had the Kilkenny burger, which had loads of ingredients in it. Bacon, pork, beef patty over rye I believe. My only complaint is that the beef patty was not seasoned. Ate a few pieces of it by itself and it tasted like it wasn't salted either. Also it was over done, making it dry. (A corner of the patty was black, burned. Corner of the rye too) The very deliciously seasoned pork and bacon saved the burger. As well as the slaw. And nope, I didn't complain. Just made the observation and moved on. There are so many delicious items on this menu, it will not deter me from going back.

First time there. Great food and atmosphere. I love that the servers wear kilts. Will definitely go again.

I love this place. Friendly staff and the food is outstanding! The atmosphere is like an Irish Pub and they have outdoor seating with fans for the summer and heat for the winter.All beer is imported so you have a wide variety as well as irish whiskeys and scotch.

Everything we ordered was amazing! Good waitress! She was very attentive even when they got busy. Bottomless bloody marry for the win!!

Awsome, had the family out for Brunch and was very pleased with the service and food. Must go back

Sat on the porch for happy hour with 12 family and friends. I had Murphy's Irish Stout and Scotch eggs. 👍 Now dat's how to pass a good time, cher! 🙂

The food was good. However, the selling point is the great atmospheres and the extensive beer selection.

One of my favorite spots to hangout at any day of the week. The drink menu is amazing, the atmosphere is great and the staff is awesome. The pub fries (the ultimate pub fries are perfect for sharing) and shepherds pie are to die for. I have never had a bad experience here. I recommend them to anyone visiting Lake Charles or any local who has never been.

Charming little place off of the beaten path. Good atmosphere, with a beer selection that will leave you with a headache trying to decide which one to get. Mixed drinks were strong enough to feel good about your purchase but not so strong you couldn't drink it. Service was spot on. Good enough to keep you feeling served without feeling like you were being interrupted every five minutes. The patio was a good size with many tables and as clean as the inside was. We did not order any food, so I can't speak to the kitchen quality. I would definitely go back to have a few drinks and chill if I am in the area again.

This is definitely a must go to in Lake Charles. I've tried almost everything on the menu along with most of their drinks throughout the years and they have always have maintained a consistent, friendly and comfortable environment with top notch service and food. Roland is a G.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and phenomenal food!

This was my first time here and I went with 2 friends for brunch. Once we were seated our server did not come by our table to take our drink orders for about 15/20 minutes. By that time we order our food at the same time. We recieved our food before we even received our drinks. The food was ok. I got the chicken & waffles. I felt the chicken strips were overcooked and dry. The friends I went with have been there several times and usually love it, but today they were also let down with the service.

Great place....love it...I feel like a friend more than a customer. So, we stopped for an early bite today. My son's favorite place to eat. We enjoyed the lunch. Had an awesome Mac Burger....and bacon/potato soup. Soup was a bit salty but tasted good.

Went there for Sunday brunch. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive, and the food was fantastic! Plus, the bottomless bloody Mary was delicious. Will definitely make this a routine Sunday affair!

If you're looking for something different, this is a great place! Irish Pub atmosphere - including the occasional bagpipe performance - with excellent food and drink options. Best Bloody Mary around (get the Voodoo vodka in it). For St. Patrick's day, you better buckle in for an all day experience!

I honestly only give four stars instead if five because a few times that I have been the food took over an hour to come out. Other than that this place has great food, exceptional beer choices, and the inside atmosphere is amazing.
